Well the year is finally wrapping up and classes are beginning to slow down. Actually, they have all ready slowed down and all that is left is a few finals here and there. Electronic Communications was interesting in it’s own unique way. First I would like to say a big thank you to Jory, she did a fine job. A class, such as Electronic Communications, is really tough to teach. Every student is on a different level and also we know some just have no technology skills whatsoever. That is OK, and this class really did a good job of evening out the playing field.
I do have a few suggestions for the class. I say make all the blog posts do on Sunday night. I know as a kid I always think of what I have to do late Sunday and I feel many blog post would not be missed if the due date was moved to Sunday. That is really the only suggestion I have for this class. At the end of the day I will have to say I enjoyed it.
What I came in expecting to learn and what I did learn is quite amazing. The class fullfilled my expectations and more. I loved learning to use Garage Band, iMovie and Fireworks. I feel very proficient in these areas now, and if I dedicate a little more time to projects I know I can do a much better job. Jory was great in helping me understand the little knick knacks I did not understand before. I hate that she had to explain herself a million times, and her patience probably got pushed to the limits, but she did a great job. For me though, my expectations were fulfilled and it ended up being a class I dearly enjoyed.
I hope kids take this class in the future with an attitude to just go in and have fun. It’s not going to be an easy A, you have to work for it, but if you have fun the work will go by much easier. Best thing to be when you enroll in this class is to be creative and open-minded. The sky is the limit and the class lets you do things your way. Overall, great class.
I was browsing around the Internet looking for some portfolio sites. I would be clicking along and find one I would like but it just wasn’t blog worthy. When I stumbled upon this website I knew this would be the one I would blog about. This guys name is Jeff Sarmiento and his site is simple but yet unique.
Why I liked Jeff’s site so much is the fact that it was really eye catching. Girls would say it’s cute and guys would say it’s cool, and that is exactly what you want in a website. Everything you look at on this website just has a unique feel to it. Overall the site is simple, and people like simple.
When I say the site is simple really what I mean is that it’s easy to navigate. You would not have to have much computer knowledge to navigate’s Jeff’s website. Plus if the website is not enough for you, Jeff has plenty of links to his Facebook and Twitter accounts. Again, it would not take a genius to figure out his website and I like that a lot.
Another particular aspect I like about the website is the template. The bulk of the information is on the left side of the screen and then links and other pages on the right side. I like this because you read from left to right and you want to see the main point right off the start. Jeff does this with his template and I believe I will use a very similar template in my website design. I might not have the rocket in my website, but I will say I also love the rocket at the top left of his page.
Overall, all I can really say about the website and why I liked it was that it was very catchy. You seen the site and you wanted to explore more into it. Then the deeper you get into the website it still remains very easy to get back to the home page. I see it as like the home key in music. You can drift away all you want but in the end you will always want to draw yourself back to that home key or in this case the home page and main point of the website. I like that. Here is the link to Jeff’s website, check it out.
Why does it have to be black or white? Why does it have to be wrong or right? Why does it have to be one way or the other?
We, as Americans, live in a country that is the most politically split country in history. I have talked to my family and teachers and they agree that our country is almost completely split down the middle when it comes to political views. This is why I say our country is black and white. If you are a liberal you dislike the conservatives and if you are a conservative you dislike the liberals. Can you as an individual define the term liberal or conservative? It’s a pretty tough question.
Most of us can agree that FOX News tends to lean more on the conservative side of the spectrum. MSNBC and CNN tend to lean more liberal. I can argue and say that I would agree with both statements. I assure you that I do not let either news outlet influence the way I believe. I actually like to get both sides of an opinion on a particular issue. People should be able to believe how they want to believe. You do not have to be a conservative or a liberal; you could be a libertarian or a statist. Libertarian is for less government control and a statist believes in giving almost all the power to the states. It does not have to be black or white because there actually is an in-between.
This next thing I am about to tell you I believe could be a life lesson for most. When you find something you totally disagree with, try looking at it from the other angle. When you can argue for the other side effectively and influence a person to side with the subject you do not believe with that is when you understand an issue. Sounds confusing, but when you get where you can see where others are coming from you develop your own beliefs and that my friends is a great feeling.
In conclusion, all I want you to attain from this little article is that it does not have to be black or white. Develop your own beliefs. If you are a conservative, try looking at a liberal standpoint and understand where they are coming from. Even though you disagree with what they have to say it’s still nice to understand another’s view. This also goes for if you are liberal, try to understand a conservative view. Do not get wrapped up in the fad you have to be one or the other. I’ll let you in on a secret, you don’t.
This content in this article doesn’t only stand for political beliefs but also all aspects of life. If you have an enemy, the best way to defeat that enemy is to understand his or her point of view. You have to think like your enemy. Even though I am trying to achieve the declining of hate between liberals and conservatives in this article, the method could also be an advantage for you if you have an enemy. Trust me, try getting the other side of the story once in your life, I will be the first to tell you that it really is pretty fun.
Thank you,
Nick Woodruff
Here is my video project, it’s called “Does A Bear Take A Dump In The Woods?” It’s a Geico parody commercial. Hope you like it and enjoy.
When I was asked a question on what I thought was a viral video, one video came to mind. I am sure you have seen the YouTube sensational video called “Charlie bit my finger”. If you have not seen this video please enjoy viewing it below on this post.
Why the video went viral? Most viral videos are funny. This is exactly what this video is, funny. When you watch the video you cannot help but laugh at some moments. Once this video was watched by one person they immediately wanted to share it with another person. For example, I would say 30-40 percent of my friends on Facebook posted a link to the video saying check it out. This is what makes a viral video go viral. People want to share the video with others to become “cool” or “funny” by showing a video they found on YouTube. Besides not only having many links on Facebook to the video, there were also e-mails containing the link also saying check out this video. I know I received a few. The reason all coming back to the beginning. It was funny and people wanted to share it with others. That is how you make a viral video, make a video people want to share with others.
What was even more funny than the video itself was the people acting out in public. I specifically remember being in class one day and talking only about the video “Charlie bit my finger”. I knew this video was big when my dad, the most lack of technological human being around, called me asking me if I seen the video. Also, look on YouTube for other Charlie related videos. You will find ton of parodies and spin-offs of the “Charlie bit my finger” video. All in all this video was huge over the last year and a half. Whether you think it is funny, cute or stupid, you still probably seen the video more than once. I know it makes me laugh every time. Here is the video and enjoy. Please leave a comment telling me about the first time you watched the video and what you thought when you seen it.
This video is about a little shell with shoes. The reason I chose this video is because the editing is quite amazing. The way the shell looks as if it is suppose to be there amazes me. The editing of the shell part of this video is great, but there are many other reasons why the video is a good video. The sound in the video is really good, you can understand everything and your volume on your computer does not have to be that loud. I give a big compliment to the sound quality of the video. Also, the most important part, the video is entertaining. Most girls would say that the video is “cute” and I say the video is funny. If you watch this video I am sure you will laugh. The three things I mentioned sounds the like necessities of a great video to me. Let’s see, the editing is wonderful, the sound is great and it is entertaining. Them three items are an ingredient of a successful video in my mind.
When you are watching the video, pay attention to the little details and look how the shell fits into the picture very nicely. They seem to have the proportions correct, which is really hard to do when photo shopping something in a video. Check out this video and tell me what you think. It will not be a waste of your time and I guarantee you will crack a smile.
This video is really, well not good at all. The lens on the camera seems to be out of focus and this would be my first recommendation to enhancing the video. No one likes to watch a blurry out of focus video. Then the other question is, where is the sound? This video definitely could of been much better with a little sound. Since there is no sound it just seems you are watching this shaky, blurry video with absolutely no purpose. The second thing I would do is add sound. Do not get me wrong, home videos are a great thing. Honestly, I do not see this family pulling this out at Christmas to show the folks. First off, fix the focus, and secondly, add some sound. The camera person being shaky was not horrible, but it could of used some work as well. Maybe try a tripod, this is what I would suggest. Overall rating, just a bad video.
College football games this particular weekend are going to be full of action and fun to watch. This week you have the Oklahoma State Cowboys taking on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and also No. 1 Oklahoma taking on Missouri. These two games interest me the most of all college games this weekend. The South East Conference (SEC) will also have many good games this weekend. The SEC has a good game every weekend. The Big 12 conference actually has the edge with better games this weekend though. Oklahoma State taking on Nebraska in Stillwater should lead to an interesting and fun weekend. Also, homecoming is going on in Stillwater.
Oklahoma State is ranked 14 in the nation and Nebraska is ranked 16. The spread on the game is 3.5 in Nebraska’s favor according to the Vegas odds. In other words, the reason I am telling you this information, it is hopefully going to be a great game. Nebraska has one of the premier quarterbacks in the nation, and Oklahoma State has one of the premier wide receivers. Offense is going to be the topic of conversation after this weekend’s game I do believe. Be sure and tune in at 2:30 p.m. to watch the Cornhuskers take on Oklahoma State. The game will be televised on ABC.
Oklahoma is ranked No. 1 in the country according to the new BCS polls that came out Sunday evening. Missouri is undefeated and rated in the top 25 as well. Being in Columbia I am looking for this to be a great game. The spread on this game is 5.5 in Oklahoma’s favor according to the odds in Vegas. I think the game is going to turn out differently. Be sure and tune in for this game also, which will be at 8 p.m. on ABC.
My prediction on one of these games is still not determined, which is the Oklahoma State and Nebraska game. I do have a prediction for the Oklahoma at Missouri game. I see Oklahoma going down in this game 34-27. For starters, Oklahoma usually does not play well on the road. Secondly, Missouri is not a bad team; any team that is undefeated right now in the season must be pretty good. I see the Sooners going down.
I hope the Cowboys prevail against the Cornhuskers. Nebraska is a very good team and that one loss on their record is very misleading. Again, only time will tell. The keys to the game for the Cowboys are stopping Martinez (Nebraska’s explosive quarterback), and putting up some points. Nebraska is known for its defense, the Cowboys need to put the Nebraska defense in question after this weekend. It also would not be a bad idea for the Cowboys to show up with a good defensive scheme as well. Remember, a team cannot beat you if they do not score any points. Be sure and tune in this weekend and check out the games, I promise you will not be disappointed. Have a good day and good weekend. GO POKES!
Here is a project my friend and I had to do. This is the podcast for our class. It is a simple podcast about Eskimo Joes. Alese talks about the fashion and what goes on behind the scenes in the store. I talk about the Live at Joes show, here is the link and our podcast, Eskimo Joes.
